FAQ‘s
Q. Do I get 1 point for each of the three PDIs or prints I enter into a competition?
A. No you only get 1 point for the overall entry to the competition, not one point for each PDI or print that you enter.
Q. How many points do I get if, for example, I get 1st place, 3rd place and a Highly Commended?
A. You only get the points for the highest award you have received in the competition.
Therefore, you get 10 points for 1st place, plus 1 point for entering, making a total of 11. (The other awards are recorded but would only come into play in the event of a tie-break situation at the end of the year)
Q. How are the Annual Competitions scored?
As with the Monthly Competitions, there is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and Highly Commended, and in addition an overall “Premier Award” for the print that the judge deems to be Print of the Year.
A. Each member who submits an entry to an Annual Competition is awarded 1 point for entering the competition. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Highly Commended are awarded points as above. Your highest award counts. Say you got 3rd place and a Highly Commended, you would score 5 points for 3rd place plus 1 for entering, totalling 6 points. The Premier Award is selected from the Annual Print Competitions and scores 10 points.
Q. What happens if the winner of the Premier Award also won 1st place in the same competition?
A. Lucky Member! They would score 10 points for the 1st place, plus 1 point for entering, making 11 points. They then would be awarded a further 10 points for winning the Premier award but as they had already received the 1 point for entering the competition, there would be no additional 1 point for entry. Therefore, making a total score of 21 points! If you win the Premier Award only then you would score 1 point for entry and 10 for the Premier award.
Q. What if I don’t get a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or HC?
A. You still are awarded 1 point for entering the competition.
The illustration below depicts an example of scoring across a season. You will note that D has the overall highest score despite not achieving awards in five of the competitions. The red triangle indicates that A, C and E have all won more than one award in the competition concerned. This is only relevant in the event of a tie for first place.
