Tim was born in South Shields on the 13th September 1922, although Tim was not one for celebrating birthdays but he shared his birthday with the likes of Roald Dahl, French Photographer Edwuard Boubat and not only that, on the same date in 1898 that Celluloid Film was invented. Tim went to the Boy’s High School in South Shields and when 16 years old he joined Reyrolles as a trainee Draughtsman and went on to travel the world as a fully fledged Electrical Engineer and Draughtsman.

He got married in 1949 to Marion and they have been happily married from then until Tim died in May 2007. Tim joined the Photographic Society in 1940 but left because of his work commitments, but after a chance meeting with a life long friend Jack Johnson APAGB Jack persuaded Tim to rejoin the Society which he did in January 1993, he was also a volunteer photographer for the National Trust and was retained by English Heritage to make a photographic survey of Ancient Properties.

Then illness and lifesaving surgery made it more and more difficult for Tim to get to the Society’s meetings from his home in Darras Hall, so Tim decided to join Hexham P.S. but kept up his membership of South Shields Society which enabled him to continue entering the competitions which he did with success until May 2007, Tim won many awards with his photographs not only in Shields but throughout the country and in fact throughout the world. Tim will be sadly missed by many people not only in the photographic world but also in the sport he loved to participate in until his eighties skiing.
